About The Third HorizonThe Third Horizon is a new division of Strategic Global Assistance, leadersource.org, which seeks to see children set free from poverty and neglect. Our focus is on the world’s seventh largest and second most populous country, India. India also has the largest concentration of poor people and has a higher rate of malnutrition among children under the age of three than any other country in the world. The Third Horizon supports an orphanage in Indore, India called Sahara Children’s Home. Sahara Children’s Home is a long-term project intended to reach out in care and support to the children who have been displaced and run out of their Christian homes by Hindu fanatics. These children once lived in peace with their families in the state of Orissa in northern India until the persecution began. The Hindu fanatics also burned down two children’s homes, scattering hundreds of orphaned children throughout the jungle and surrounding area and forcing them to find shelter in the refugee camps where they are neglected and do not receive proper physical or emotional care. The mission of Sahara Children’s Home is to provide spiritual, physical, intellectual, and mental health to orphaned children who have suffered mental trauma during the recent communal violence in Orissa. This project will train the children to be good citizens of their country, to serve others, and to work for the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth. Another goal of The Third Horizon’s is to bring transformation into the lives of the children who have lost a parent(s) due to leprosy. This transformation includes good physical health, proper spiritual growth, education, and quality social life. The Sahara Children’s home has adopted a number of these children who are in critical condition. The Indore community has neglected these children because their parent(s) has a “curse” of leprosy. Lastly, we also feel a great burden for the young girls caught in the sex trade in the Banchhara community. The men of the community force these girls into prostitution at a very young age, sometimes as young as 12 years old. Prostitution is a hallmark of this caste. This is what they are known for. Please join with us to help these children. The total cost for caring for one of these children is only $25/month. The cost is broken down as such: $12 for food $7 for rent, electricity, and medical $6 for education One hundred percent of this sponsorship goes directly to the child you choose to support. If you choose to sponsor a child through The Third Horizon, you can be sure that every cent goes directly to the child. The staff at the orphanage raises their own support by working half time or being supported by their local church. Because The Third Horizon is born purely out of a sincere desire to improve the living conditions of the children in Indore and is being sponsored by a larger organization, Strategic Global Assistance, we receive no compensation on our part. In the midst of our own economic troubles, let us not forget those who have even less. Would you consider sponsoring one or more of these children monthly? |
